Our client is looking for a Windows, Unix and VM Lead to join their team.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the management, deployment, and optimisation of Windows and Unix (Linux, AIX) server environments.
• Oversee patch management, performance monitoring, and incident response for server infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Drive migration projects for end-of-life hardware and legacy systems.
• Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery processes.
• Lead incident response and troubleshooting for server-related issues.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of server architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Mentor and guide L2 Support Analysts, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing. Organize the on-call rota for the area.
• Collaborate with application, network, and storage teams to ensure seamless server operations.
• Conduct regular reviews of server performance, capacity, and utilisation.
• Lead server consolidation and optimisation initiatives.
• Participate in governance, reporting, and service review meetings.
• Ensure alignment with SLA requirements, reporting, and compliance.
• Support audit and compliance activities for server operations.
• Lead the response to audit findings, ensuring timely remediation.
• Stay current with emerging server technologies and best practices.
• Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with third-party support providers.
• Drive continuous improvement in server management processes.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning for server environments.
• Oversee the secure decommissioning and disposal of end-of-life hardware.
• Oversee, maintain, and support the hypervisor/virtualization layer (VMware or others).
• Maintain and support server clusters across data centres (both on-premises and in VMC on AWS).

Requirements:
• Advanced skills in Windows, Linux, and AIX server management, including CIS hardening and patch orchestration.
• Advanced skills in virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V), VM clustering, and high-availability techniques.
• Expertise in Active Directory, GPO strategy, and secure administration practices.
• Knowledge of Linux/AIX identity integration (SSSD, PAM, Kerberos) and SSH key management.
• Performance engineering skills (PerfMon, event logs, IOPS analysis).
• Experience with TLS/PKI bindings for Windows services and certificate renewals.
• Backup and disaster recovery planning for server environments.
• Endpoint security management (EDR agent health and coverage).
• EOL remediation and OS/platform migration expertise.
• Strong documentation and CMDB management skills.
• Mentoring abilities for L2 analysts in server operations and troubleshooting.
